Boring but Important - Radon Awareness

Radon Awareness

Even with your health-conscious routine, you develop lung cancer. Radon gas in your home could be the cause. There is no way you could have known the odorless, tasteless, invisible gas was slowly giving you cancer. It becomes a health risk when it seeps into a home, becomes trapped and accumulates to elevated levels.

20,000 lung cancer deaths each year in the U.S. are radon-related. 12.5% of Utahns surveyed had tested their homes for radon exposure. They found that 30% of Utah homes have high levels of radon.

Should home buyers and sellers test for radon? Absolutely! Testing for radon is easy and inexpensive. Homeowners can purchase do-it-yourself kits through a local home improvement store or through the Utah Department of Environmental Quality at www.radon.utah.gov.
